We survived 2025...now what?

Table of Contents

Is it just me, or was 2025 just an absolute slog to get through? I know EVERYONE feels a similar way at the end of a year thinking, “Where did the time go? Boy, this year was super long and felt super short at the same time.”

Certainly not for 2025.

I’ll tell you where the time went: an ICE-Y political climate, a stagnating job market, and AI getting shoved down our throats without consent.

This year had a lot of low points, and I for one am glad to leave it behind for my own reasons.

What have I been doing this year anyway?

I will readily admit I have NOT been doing much with this newsletter, and I wholeheartedly apologize for falling off. I know that you get bombarded with all kinds of pings and content that are whittling away at your attention span, so I do appreciate you sticking around with these sporadic emails.

That aside, here’s what I’ve been up to this year:

  • dealing with a miscarriage (yes, I have my bias as to why my year was bad. My first pregnancy was not viable and it was easily my lowest point of 2025. I’m okay healthwise but it’s crazy and scary how different my story could have been if I lived elsewhere…)

  • writing a book (a high point, I’m actually about halfway done with my first draft! It’s about a hospital caseworker in limbo helping spirits deal with unresolved guilt from when they passed so they can move on.)

  • contract work, which has been really fulfilling and I’ve been really happy supporting this team

  • couple of speaking engagements (Thank you PMI and COOP for having me!)

  • sorting through some financial stuff (nothing too crazy but PSA, banks shouldn’t have subscription fees, no thank you SoFi!)

2026 predictions and resolutions

1) AI is not going away. I’m hopeful that it will be a TINY bit better, but I’m not confident that it will continue to be a bigger drain on our planetary resources and I see it continuing to be a scapegoat for layoffs despite having a LOT more work to actually replace humans (don’t trust AI to code, it can make more errors than junior programmers.)

2) Layoffs should cool down a bit. There will be some big players doing more layoffs, and I predict that it will hit the tech industry pretty hard especially if chips and RAM prices are still going to be out of control (looking at you, NVIDIA.)

3) For anyone actively looking for a job, I’d steer clear of tech and any industry or company that relies heavily on government funding (that includes nonprofits and higher ed) because who knows what’s going to happen anymore with this administration. You don’t want your job to be at the whim of leadership that just does whatever. Healthcare and insurance should still be stable.

My 2026 resolution

I’m entering this new year with a profound sense of purpose and fire. I’m committed to seeing things through and showing up for those that matter most. Which means I will have a finished book and a fully established career coaching community.

I’m focusing on those two deliverables for now because goal setting 101: they must be specific, measurable, and achievable (3 parts of the SMART acronyn for goals btw)

What will you endeavor for in 2026? If you’re looking for a new job, let me help you get there 😉

My calendar is open until Friday, Jan 2nd for career coaching, 50% off!

Happy holidays everyone! Make the most of the time you have by sharing it with the people that matter and doing what you love. You deserve to be happy, healthy, and wealthy!
